One of the reasons Cooley doesn't want to make his site a real blog is because it's profitable for him the way it is. That could be changing, though, since he's no longer the only game in town.

EDA companies want good reviews on his site, so find they find users and ghost-write the reviews, and then pay Cooley to post them. To be fair, the users did have final approval of the post, and the technical details were accurate. But it was definitely pay-for-play.

In case you self-centered EDA guys don't pay attention, the biggest story for 2009 is the low yield of GPUs on 40nm node. After years of marketing and snearing at DFM, the consequence of this short sightedness is being keenly felt.

Good blog Harry and a good note on Cooley. Deepchip and its moderated emails are so old technology. In the era of twittering and message boards, a moderated email list with no provision for comments is an artefact of ancient times.
