I'm too young to have been paying any attention to Synopsys' birth, but Jan Decaluwe cites Synopsys' high level synthesis as his "first love" (how's that for "PASSION"): http://www.sigasi.com/content/synthesis-was-my-first-love Synopsys had a vision of what they thought the future should look like, and they made the future happen.
